Creating this short doc was more challenging than expected. For example, I had to choose the place where I belong. And I had a couple of ideas in mind for this assignment. However, I did not have the best photos for some of the ideas and for others I did not want to use someone else’s photo. After looking through my camera roll I stumbled upon this image on the roof of my house that overlooks my neighborhood. I instantly knew that I was going to write about home. When it came time to writing about the dialog for this project, I just let my heart speak for itself. I had about a page worth of writing and thought that I could fit it all into the 30 seconds for this assignment. Quickly, after my first take I realized that I had to take a lot of dialog out. I had to keep cutting and editing to make it not sound rushed. And also maintaining the words I wanted to say. Once I felt comfortable with my script and the length of the project. I re-did the audio multiple times because I wanted to be relaxed in the way that I spoke.
My short doc reflects a sense of belonging at home. It describes that home for me is not just a physical place, but a feeling. It is where I can be my truest self without judgement. It reflects my hearts content and how it feel about home. I also enjoy the image of my home. It is a roof view point of my neighborhood, and I wanted to convey that home is not just my home, but rather my community.
